I had the same issue with my original maker and I am afraid to take apart the machine. I wrapped the metal pole in electrical tape to try to minimize movement for now.

I have a cricut maker 3 and as it now needs the rubber rollers replaced, I’m looking for another option that is easier to repair. I paid top dollar for mine and haven’t even had a years use of it. To replace the rollers, I had to find some on eBay – only to discover that the whole machine has to be pulled apart to get the rollers on. Basically my money is gone. Over $400 wasted. I’m going to find something that is repairable.

Thanks for the detailed clarification! You’re absolutely right—Cricut’s version of matless cutting should really come with a footnote and an asterisk. Gotta love that Smart Materials only fine print, right? Appreciate you!

Juliet can run matless in various widths (and of course it can be any brand). I’m not sure how far apart Juliet’s adjustable pinch wheels are – just 2 need to be on the vinyl. (on the Romeo I can cut 2″ wide scraps without a mat.)
